The wheels on a vehicle will always have something called a “lug bolt pattern.” It refers to the circular pattern of lug nuts at the center of each wheel. Lug bolt patterns can contain anywhere from four to eight lug nuts, but Chevy trucks and SUVs tend to utilize a 6-lug bolt pattern. With that established, there may be a follow-up question on Big Lake Chevy drivers’ minds: are all Chevy 6-lug patterns the same? Yes, with convenience and uniformity in mind, Chevy duplicates the same 6-lug bolt pattern across the majority of its trucks and SUVs.
Regardless of what our guide has taught you about your vehicle so far, we recommend checking with our service team before you purchase any new wheels for your vehicle. That way, you can be certain that they’re going to fit!
When you’re looking at bolt patterns, two numbers matter: the number of bolts, and the diameter of the circle that the bolts are arranged in. You should also know that bolt patterns are written with the number of bolts listed first, followed by a dash, and then the diameter. What is the bolt pattern for a Chevy 6-lug truck or SUV? Typically, Chevy follows a pattern of “6-5.5-inch” on 6-lug vehicles. In other words, the wheels on Chevy trucks and SUVs usually have six lug bolts that are arranged in a circle that measures 5.5 inches in diameter.
We established that for most Chevy truck and SUV drivers in St. Michael and Buffalo, their 6-lug vehicle’s bolt pattern will contain six lugs in a 5.5-inch-diameter circle. But, you may still wish to measure for yourself. All you need is your tape measure or ruler; choose the center of a bolt to be your starting point, and measure to the center of the opposite bolt.
Truthfully, explaining lug bolt patterns and how they’re measured is more complicated than the concept itself.
